Welcome

The Adam's family poultry farm is a place to share ideas about hobbies, family and good old down home cooking! A place were we are learning to live frugally but well. We have realised that living simply and working hard can be very rewarding. With that, my first post.

Today on this very snowy/ rainy cold and lovely day, here on the farm we have some beautiful babies hatching. By the end of the day, we should have 6 Chantecler chicks and 6 Buff Orpingtons. Now, anyone who knows me, knows that I am a chicken addict. I love chickens, I love they way they walk and cluck and peck. I know, I know, it sounds crazy but I just don't see how anything (beside my family) could be more amusing. Anyhow, we woke up to a racket in the bator this morning, they my be little but they sure can make quite a bit of noise.

They stay in the bator till they are dry and fluffy!

Then they move to the brooder, where the others will join them when they hatch out.

They are soooo sweet! Being little as they are, they need lots of rest.
Before we know it, they will be busy , busy , busy!!

So while the chicks are hatching and the snow is falling and because it is so darn messy outside today, I decided I had better get a move on my baking.
Of course there is the usual loafs of fresh bread to bake but I wanted something different for the boys. Either for a snack or breakfast, I thought this might do the trick.

Cinnamon roll loaf! Just slice off a piece and put it in the toaster, add a little butter and presto!!!!
Sweet yummy breakfast!
I got the recipe from another blog. New life on a homestead, so the credit is really deserved there.
It turned out great!
We really enjoy baked goods in this old farmhouse, so I find myself baking loads of cookies. The Hubby's fav's, peanutbutter. Just because you make oversized cookies does NOT mean the they will eat less, not in this house. The bigger the better and the more I find myself chasing them out of the kitchen!

I'll post the recipes a little later, right now it's off to clean the coops!
